WHAT IS THE GUARANTEED RIDE HOME PROGRAM?
One of the first concerns people have about joining a carpool is the "What
if..." scenario. "What if I get sick at work and have to leave early?"
"What if the driver does?" "What if my kids get sick and I have to go
pick them up?" "What if I have to work late?" "What if...?" You can think
of hundreds of possibilities.
The Guaranteed Ride Home Program takes the worry
out of carpooling by providing FREE transportation home, in the event
of an emergency, to registered participants of registered, ongoing carpools.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
In the event of an emergency, call UVRS at 1-802-295-1824 or 1-800-685-RIDE
and connect to your local Rideshare Coordinator. All you have to do is
identify yourself as a GRH participant, give us your telephone number,
location supervisor's name and where you need to go. Then make
your own travel arrangements, whatever is most convenient for you.*
The GRH Program will reimburse up to $50 of the cost for your emergency
ride home. You will be responsible for any amount beyond the $50 limit.
Be sure to get a receipt and submit it to your local
Rideshare office as soon as possible. You will be reimbursed, up to $50,
within three weeks. The UVRS-GRH program covers only it's registered program
members.
You may receive reimbursement no more than six times
per calendar year or twice in a single month. (All members of the carpool
MUST be registered Rideshare participants to be eligible for the GRH.)
